Australian Biathlon Championships

The Australian Biathlon Championships are held annually at Mt Hotham, Victoria.

 

Australian Biathlon championships results August 19/20, 2018

NSW did very well on the first day of the Australian Biathlon championships. The format was the Individual race with each competitor skiing 5 X loops and shooting 4 times with a 1 minute penalty for every miss.

  • 1st U19 Women's - Lulu Miskin

  • Kate Spencer made a strong debut in the non-carry class. 

 

Sunday was the Sprint Biathlon race with each racer skiing three times around the course and shooting twice. Each penalty requires the competitor to ski a short penalty loop.

  • Kate Spencer continues to show an impressive first year in the non-carry class. 

Jill Coleborn had concussion from a crash the day before and was unable to race. 

Selection for the National Team and National Development Team

The Australian Biathlon Championships are one of 4 selection competitions each year. Selection to the National Team and National Development Team is dependent on results at these 4 selection races held in Australia and performance in the European Competition Season. Always check the latest Australian Biathlon Selection Policy

The other selection races are held late in July each year - the Victorian Biathlon Championships with 2 race days over the weekend.
