Future Starts Junior camp

Every year Australian Biathlon run the Future Starts camp at Mt Hotham, Victoria. In addition to learning the skills of skiing and target shooting the camp focuses on developing healthy attitudes in a fun and nurturing environment. Kids learn to be independent, respect for themselves and each other. 

High performance coaches from Italy provide training. The camp caters for all levels of skill and experience from the beginner to high performance. 

Accomodation and food is provided.

Junior development camp - Italy

Every year our future stars have the option to travel to Livigno, Italy, the overseas home for Biathlon Australia. 

Here the juniors get to experience being in another country and using the excellent trails, range facilities, gym and coaching that Livigno has to offer.

Budget accomodation is provided where all the team stay together. Food is provided.

Summer Biathlon Junior Camps

Camps are run in Sydney throughout the year. Guest coaches run weekend camps that include roller-skiing, supervised target shooting, fitness and laser biathlon.

Previous Camps

July 2018 - 35 juniors from NSW, Victoria and New Zealand trained at Mt Hotham for a week under our Italian coaches. The camp was ended with a Biathlon race with difference. Competitors had to negotiate an obstacle course using their agility skills before trying to hit five targets with up to eight rounds. 

December 2016 - January 2017 -  In Livigno, High Performance Coach conducted a 3 week camp which included young development athletes as well.


December 2016 - Australian Biathlon sent across to Martello, Italy, 2 young biathletes, Maddy Clarke and Gabi Mahon to participate with 33 athletes from 15 nations in the IBU Development Camp. 

July 2016 - our 10 day Australian Biathlon Development Camp was over subscribed with 40 young biathletes. This camps was extremely successful and substantially subsidized by Australian Biathlon. Be sure to apply early as places will be limited this year so as to manage range resources.

July 2016 - Special opportunity for our young NSW development athletes for coaching by National High Performance Coach, Luca Bormolini.

July 2015 -we arranged for the IBU (that's the International Biathlon Union - the international peak body of the sport of Biathlon) to conduct an IBU Development camp. Coach Kari Korpela from Sweden ran the week long camp for 15 athletes from Australia and New Zealand.
