Our Australian Biathlon High Performance Coach Bormolini has his work cut out for him while he's in Australia. Coach Luca ran a 3 day camp together with training for officials in Sydney and replicated that in Melbourne. Not only did he then run the most amazingly fun packed camp for our development athletes at Hotham, he commenced on snow training for our High performance athletes. There were some fantastic results from the Victorian championships. Quite a few biathletes made the long journey from Sydney, NSW to Mt Hotham in Victoria for the races. It was very encouraging to see some strong debuts for some of the Masters and Junior skiers. Even though a few members weren’t able to compete this year there were some great results. Well done NSW! The Victorian championships consisted of a Mass Start race on the Saturday and a Sprint even on the Sunday.
The last two days the Masters have been feeling tired from the previous few days. Some of the group have chosen to take an afternoon or two off to rest before the races in the weekend. The snow and the grooming has been fantastic. ( A big thank you to Mt Hotham for the grooming). The snow has been fast and crisp in the morning with some softening as the sun warms up. The Masters have been working on their technique in the range to shoot under pressure and get into and out of
Chief Coach Luca Bormolini is running an intensive camp for our High performance athletes over the season. Our sport is clearly growing at an exponential rate. The new range with the increased lanes (now 15 lanes) was packed with high energy activity. Our federation covers the entire spectrum of participants from High performance athletes to development novices and masters. They were all here at Australian Biathlon's range to train and prepare for this weekend 's races. #chie
Excellent snow conditions again for day 3 of the Masters Biathlon camp. The morning was more drills at the range including the ladder drill. The ladder drill involves having to hit a number of targets out of five before progressing to the next stage. The stages get progressively harder until you have used up all your ammunition. Paul and Tosha took us on a ski around Christmas hill. It was tough on the uphills and lots of fun down the hills. That night a banquet was held at M
