Overnight the final event for IBU Cup 1 at Sjusjoen, was held in good conditions. 23 countries raced, with Teams 1-11 finishing and 12-23 being lapped.

Training was at East Manly today for a change of scenery. And what beautiful scenery with sweeping views of Sydney Harbour from the bridge to the heads. Today the teens had a few quick race ending in a cat and mouse race where they had to beat a Master in pursuit. We had a new junior starting today and she is already impressing with her balance.

Target shooting training was on a Saturday this week. Despite some windy conditions I had one of my best sessions including a bulls-eye on Standing. On the Sunday morning a small group of us enjoyed a roller ski session. We did drills that focused on gliding on one foot/skate. We started by free skating without poles and then added poles later. With Jill away, Mark led our group of four skaters for a training session at Lane Cove this morning. After a warm-up, we practised free-skating without poles up a gentle slope. We then skated up to the bubbler to work on our double time. We repeated the drill of skiing without poles on a flat section of the road, trying to get the longest glide possible. Summer Training Continues each week on Sundays with Roller skiing, hill bounding and target shooting. Remember, it’s all about accuracy and good basic technique. Beginners if you’re shooting quickly and not accurately, go back to basics, as otherwise you’re just repeating (quickly) some flaw in technique.
