Today was the final round of the Summer Biathlon Super series. The rain held off and competitors used their experience from the last few weeks to make this one of the closest races yet. In the end it was one of the Juniors who knocked off the winner of the previous two rounds. Caption: Nice cornering. Caption: Mmmmm...I wonder who won?!? We held the second race in our summer Biathlon series today. The morning was cooler than previous weeks, but fine and sunny. For the individual event, Mark came first ahead of Isobel and David. Phil, our timekeeper, noted that times were closer this week. Obviously people are getting the hang of the race format. For the Relay, David and Mark started first for their respective teams. David really pushed Mark on the first lap. It was very exciting. David and Isobel have improve
The first race of our Summer Series was held today at Willoughby Leisure Centre in sunny conditions. Seven biathletes raced over the course set earlier by Mark on the netball courts. We skied 5 loops with 4 shoots (Prone-Standing-Prone-Standing). After some time adjustments due to penalties and timeouts, Mark was first (by just 10 seconds), with Isobel second and David third. Only the very best athletes in the world get this opportunity and in fact the personal qualification for World Cup is 150 points, whilst that for World Championships (and the Olympics at Pyeongchang) is 180 points. We celebrate our athletes since 2000 who've competed at World Cup: Damon Morton - 2015/16 Alex Almoukov - 2008 - 2015 Mark Raymond - 2002 - 2010 Cam

The IBU has invited Jill Colebourn to represent Australia at the World Cup in Trimester 3! This is an amazing result for AUS ... the last time we had a woman at World Cup was in the nineties. Congratulations Jill! Go grrrl! Jill earned 137.56 points, well under the World Cup qualification of 150 points. She competes with other small biathlon nations for the coveted 8 places (wild cards) issued to athletes who are not in the top 25 nations. The other Women athletes who have p
It was the first of the year's training camps for the Sydney based Biathletes. Coaches Paul and Tosh flew up from Melbourne to train the group in roller-skiing and target shooting. Physically it was a very tiring camp with lots of time on rollerskis and at the range we did a lot of exercises between shooting bouts to raise the heart rate and work our arms, legs and abs. We really appreciated the effort and time from Paul and Tosh and a huge thank-you to Gen, Phil and John for
The weekend camp continues tomorrow. Long time coaches Paul and Tosh are here in Sydney for the intensive weekend camp. Roller Skiing commences 7:30 am Sunday 3 February followed by training at SISC. As usual, lunch is supplied. See you tomorrow!
