The last day of the Sydney Biathlon camp started with a roller ski at Western Sydney Parklands. A very frosty morning gave way to beautiful sunshine.
Coach Luca set up a obstable course including some cross country, stepping over sticks, walking backwards and ski-ing tight loops. It was a lot of fun. This fun had a purpose though which was to help us with balancing, controlling our speed and planning ahead.
After roller-skiing we all had an Aussie BBQ back at the Hornsby rifle range. After lunch we worked with coaches Martina, Jill and Luca on our target shooting.
Lastly the parents and masters were taught by Luca on how how to run an IBU level Biathlon race. We ran a simulated race with some deliberate mistakes thrown in to keep us on our toes.
With some sadness coaches Luca and Martina are leaving us but we'll see them again soon at Ht Hotham for the on-snow camps. A huge thank-you to Luca and Martina and thank-you to Jill, Gen, Phil and John who without their hard work none of this would have happened.
Ciao, see you on the snow!
