Compete overseas and represent Australia
NSW has a number of athletes who train and compete overseas including the Youth Olympics, IBU cup, World Cup and, in the past, the Winter Olympics.
Training in the Australian Summer
‘A winter athlete is made in summer’
NSW may not have the best snow conditions but it has ideal conditions to train all year round.
We run regular training sessions and guest coach sessions including:
-
Roller-skiing
-
Target shooting
-
Laser biathlons
-
Cross training
In Sydney we run training camps with coaches such as Alexei Almoukov ( Winter Olympics 2010).
In Albury we utilise the rifle range that has a roller-ski track.

Coaching and training in the Australia Winter
Mt Hotham is Victoria is the only on-snow Biathlon range in Australia. Every Winter there is a high performance training camp and Future stars camp.
The Hotham camps are run by our Head Coach Luca Bormolini from Italy. Luca is a legend for his individual insights for athletes, experience, enthusiasm and humour.
Coaching and training overseas
The ABA run a European Winter camp in Livigno, Italy. This is the base for completion in Italy and the rest of Europe.
What is needed to succeed
Biathlon is a challenging and rewarding sport. It requires fitness, balance and the ability to calm the mind under stress. These can all be developed if you have the desire, work ethic and have the right attitude. We will provide you with the coaching and tools you need to succeed.

The Australian Biathlon Association is the only organisation in Australia endorsed by the International Biathlon Union (IBU) and Australian Olympic Committee (AOC).
