AUS Biathlon invests in our athletes and in these couple of weeks we're running two subsidized camps both with specialist European Coaches.
This week at Hotham is the IBU-IOC camp conducted by an IBU international senior coach which is entirely subsidized. Only a handful of places are available to our AUS biathletes and just 2 places for our Kiwi friends.
Next week, will be our annual Future Stars Camp which is heavily subsidized so that our young biathletes have access to top grade international coaches at an insignificant cost. Head Coach Luca Bormolini and assistant coach Francesca will run this popular camp. Some athletes are already at Hotham and have commenced training.
Yes, there's snow for XC training and our wonderful groomers are creating more XC trails!
The camps will be followed for the rest of the season with High Performance Training, open to our athletes keen to keep up lessons of technique with our European coaches. In this sport of Biathlon technical training to instill muscle memory is essential. Most Aussies think fitness is the key to doing well in Biathlon but efficiency is vital. You want to get as much mileage as possible from your fitness. That's why our HP athletes train at a higher level to keep honing the correct techniques. We're incredibly fortunate to have our European coaches provide these elite level skills, not otherwise available in Australia.
A huge shout out to our dedicated volunteers running our camps all winter - they quietly make things happen in the background. Thank you!
Look out for news on our athletes on Instagram. #aus_biathlon
